One of the largest problems with using a virtual reality is that you bump into things. While your mind may be in the virtual world, your body is still in the real world. Instead of slashing monsters with a sword you just head Bob over the head. With a sensor mounted in the middle of the headset you could receive warnings for when your about to hit something in the real world.

According to an interview from uploadvr.com this sensor could track more than Bob's head or the walls of your living room. The sensor could track the IR-controllers and even hand movements as well. In addition the sensor would allow you to see the real world with the click of a button without having to take the headset off. While you won't be running around with a Vive on your head and a computer strapped to your body this feature would allow you to do things such as find your controllers without having to take off the headset.

The virtual reality
race is on.
